Throughout his 18 year tenure with FAO Schwarz,
David Niggli has been involved in every aspect of merchandising
and marketing for the toy retailer. In his current position of
President and Chief Merchandising Officer, Mr. Niggli directs all
merchandising efforts and provides strategic direction for the
company.
Mr. Niggli joined FAO Schwarz as a buyer in 1987. In 1995, he
was appointed Senior Vice President and was responsible for diverse
new business and product development, strategic partnerships,
store-line visuals, and the opening of FAO Schweetz, the candy
division of FAO Schwarz.
In 1997, Mr. Niggli assumed the position of Executive Vice President
of Merchandising where he successfully increased the exclusive
and private lavel categories. In 2000, Mr. Niggli was promoted
to Chief Operating Officer and Director of Merchandising, and
in 2002, he was promoted to President.
During his tenure, Mr. Niggli has positioned FAO Schwarz as
the premier retailer to launch new toy products. He was responsible
for the development and expansion of FAO Baby, the toy store’s
infant and preschool division. Prior to FAO, Mr. Niggli held
buying positions at Macy’s, Gimbels and May Company in
New York.
