The toy and game industry, more than some others, is connected to and impacted
by consumer trends and marketplace shifts. What it takes to keep kids engaged
in the toy and game category has changed dramatically over the past 20-25 years,
as the consumer electronics and entertainment worlds have undergone radical
and dynamic marketplace shifts. Today, alternative media efforts are critcal
to the market mix, as TV spots may no longer be the most effective way to reach
the consumer. The ever-shifting consumer base, the retailer consolidation,
and the trends in media consumption reflect the constant need to monitor and
help shape the toy business over the next 10 years.
