"New Technology and Girl Power"
How to Get Your Toy to Your Target Audience Through New Media

Paula Silver is president of Beyond The Box, a creative entertainment marketing and production company specializing in media that matters. Her latest breakthrough marketing success, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, grossed over $250 million and joins a list of campaigns that have changed the rules of marketing. One-time President of Marketing for Columbia Studios, Paula Silver is a big picture-oriented creative executive with a reputation for conceptual thinking that brings out-of-the-box solutions to complex marketing, branding and packaging problems. Paula has more than 20 years of experience in developing and marketing motion pictures. At Disney she created the award-winning marketing campaign for Mr. Holland's Opus, which revital-ized "grass roots" marketing for the industry and helped the movie become a $90 million box office success. Among the campaigns Ms. Silver has developed include such major hits as: Kramer vs. Kramer, Alien, Tootsie, Ghostbusters, The Exorcist 3, The Big Chill, Gandhi, Jaws 3-D, Body Double, Body Heat, Dirty Dancing, Fatal Attraction, Boyz 'n the Hood, My Girl, Dracula, Prince of Tides and A League of Their Own, among others. A media lab fellow, her company is currently looking at developing children’s media, utilizing new technology delivery systems.
