With her 20 plus years in the industry, Joan will give an overview of licensing
then and now, what it takes to make your character the next Pooh or Spongebob
and will present a brand new character that is on its way.
Joan Packard Luks, Managing Partner of The Serenata Group, brings over 20 years of experience in the licensing and consumer products business. Her career in the licensing business began as a liaison to major licensors (Sesame Workshop, The Walt Disney Company, Warner Consumer Products, Untied Media, etc.) for the ever popular and classic Colorforms Company. As Director of Licensing at Gund, Inc, the premier soft toy and gift company, she developed strong partnerships for Gund with Disney, Nickelodeon, Sesame Workshop, Warner Bros. and other key licensors making Gund a significant player with high profile properties such as Classic Pooh, Sesame Street, Beatrix Poetter, Dora the Explorer, Harry Potter, Scooby Doo, and many others.
In 2003, Joan partnered with Suk Lee to form The Serenata Group, a full service brand development, marketing and licensing agency dedicated to developing and managing brands/properties geared to children and adult lifestyle for the global market.
Joan is amember of LIMA (Licensing International Association), NAWBO (The National Association of Women in Business), and WIT (Women in Toys).
