Connie Rossi With Over 20 years experience, Connie Rossi, President, Connie's Clan Faculty Member FIT Toy Design Program, is one of the most well-known Soft Designers in the toy business, handling all phases of sewing from concept to three-dimensional forms and working production patterns. Connie has had her own plush design business for many years, and in addition has been an Instructor in Soft Toy Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology Toy Design Program for the past 12 years. Connie started her adventure in the "toy world" some 25 plus years ago working in-house at Gund, Inc. then continued working in-house at Knickerbocker Toys. After Knickerbocker closed their doors, Connie created her own freelance business under "Connie's Clan" working with Fisher Price, Toy Biz, Just Toys, Mattel, Equity Marketing, Tyco, Avon, ViewMaster-Ideal, CBS toys, Commonwealth & Bantam Collection to name a few. Connie's reputation for bringing licensed characters to life has made her the "go-to" person in plush design for Licensed Product Development. Her "Character Clients" read like a history of the Toy Business including: Puffalumps, Toy Story, Winnie the Pooh, Rocky and Bullwinkle & Rug Rats. Besides characters, Connie creates other soft toys for infants and preschoolers including toys, soft dolls, doll clothing & other sewn accessories. In addition to her teaching at FIT, Connie also been featured on the Joan Hamburg WOR-NY radio show and is mentioned in the 2000 Edition of "Who's Who." Connie has been an active member of Women in Toys since its beginning.
