______________________________________________________________ The 2008 Wonder Women
of Toy Awards 02/28/08 - New York, NY - The 2008 Wonder Women of Toys Awards honored nearly a dozen women for excellence in their respective specialties on Feb. 17, 2008, at WIT’s annual gala that took place at the Penn Club during the American International Toy Fair in New York. Women in Toys, together with Playthings Magazine, created The Wonder Women of Toys Awards to recognize women who show innovation, dedication and who have made outstanding contributions within the toy, entertainment and licensing industries. WIT President, Patti Becker of Becker Associates LLC states, "Our
congratulations to each of the 11 winners. This year's manufacturer award
went to VTech Electronics' Julia Fitzgerald. The retailer award went to
Barnes & Noble’s Ellen Heaney Mizer. The Inventor/Designer award
was bestowed on Hasbro’s Melone Griffiths. Entrepreneur honors went
to KidsGive’s Laura Rangel & Lisa Steen Proctor, while the late
Martine Redman Donofrio was given a posthumous honor. Lisa Orman of Kidstuff
Public Relations was honored for Consultant. Pokemon USA's Holly Rawlinson
took home the Licensor award. This year’s Women To Watch were: Hasbro’s
Samantha Lomow, FIT’s Judy Ellis and Beyond Learning’s Jill
Gaynor. "I want to extend our appreciation to all of the nominees, their companies, all of those who shared this magical evening with us, and those who were there in spirit.
