Established in 2016 by founders Anne Pitrone and Susan Matsumoto, the WIT Emeritus Program was developed to recognize and highlight the many diverse and talented women who have contributed greatly to the history, growth and vitality of the toy industry. Through this program, we celebrate not only the outstanding leaders within our industry, but also those who have worked behind the scenes as designers, inventors, marketers and newsmakers.

The WIT Collection

The WIT Collection, established in partnership with The Strong Museum of Play, will include archived materials that document, preserve and provide access to the many ground-breaking contributions made to the toy industry by women inventors, designers, manufacturers, marketers and executives. Housed in the Brian Sutton-Smith Library and Archives of Play at The Strong in Rochester, New York, the collection will include sketches, drawings, notebooks, correspondence, research notes, prototypes, production samples and digital assets from WIT Emeritus Members that will help advance general understanding and research on the toy development process in creating the best play experiences for children of all ages.

Membership Emeritus

Membership Emeritus status will provide a lifetime WIT membership that includes an invitation to participate in The WIT Collection at The Strong. The WIT Emeritus Program is open to all women who have demonstrated leadership qualities and have made significant contributions to the historical growth of the toy industry during a productive career.
