About the Role

POSITION SUMMARY

The Sr. Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting activities of the Electronic Learning Product Division. The Sr. Accounting Manager is also responsible for accounts payable, cash management, royalty accounting, tax, and financial reporting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage and prepare the financial information (G/L and Reporting) accurately and timely to Hong Kong and the Leadership team.
Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly.
Oversee the royalty accounting, reporting and payment process, licensor's audits, etc.
Provide leadership and development to maintain a motivated and effective staff.
Proactively streamline processes and achieve goals and objectives.
Maximize the utilization of Oracle, data warehouse, MicroStrategy and other tools to provide accurate and key information.
Manage sales and use tax reporting activities.
Manage all audit activities for assigned entities.
Monitor established internal control and procedures to ensure full compliance.
Collaborate through communication and teamwork with co-workers, management, clients and others in a courteous, and professional manner.
Exercise sound business judgment.
Work independently and collaboratively and manage time effectively in order to meet changing deadlines and priorities.
Treat all employees, guests and customers and others affiliated with our business with respect.
Conform and abide by all laws, regulations, policies, work procedures, instructions and VTech's Rules of Engagement.
Conform with all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment.
Other duties as needed or required.
POSITION SKILLS

Full knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Demonstrated advanced Microsoft Office skills, primarily Excel.
Experience with Oracle/ERP is strongly desired.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Monthly Forecast, Annual Budget, Inventory, Financial Metrics/Statistics and Pricing experience would be a plus.
Ability to maintain professional working relationships with co-workers (including colleagues in Hong Kong), management, subordinates, and others.
Detailed oriented with strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
High motivation and professional ethical standards.
Commitment to mentoring, training, and retaining a diverse team; the foresight and ability to delegate accordingly.
Must meet deadlines, occasionally under tight timelines, while maintaining accuracy and producing quality output.
Five plus years of management experience in accounting in a Distribution/Manufacturing Consumer Product Goods industry.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Microsoft Office 365 preferred.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

10 years of progressively responsible experience in the area of Accounting or Finance
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; or any combination of experience and education that provides the necessary skills, knowledge and ability to perform essential functions of this role
Must have CPA certification
Masters degree is desirable
MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY

This position manages/supervises the following positions:

Royalties Accounting Manager
Sr. Accountant 1
Sr. Accountant 2
Sr. Accountant 3
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Duties are primarily performed in an office environment, although hybrid work is allowed as appropriate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Core hours will be set between employee and manager and will be based on business needs. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

TRAVEL

Travel is not currently anticipated for this role. However, occasional travel may occur to visit other VTech worksites, training, etc.
