Women In Toys Names Mary Kay Russell First Executive Director

New Hire Helps Position Organization for More Growth

NEW YORK, January 26, 2016 – Women in Toys, Licensing & Entertainment (WIT), the leading global professional women’s organization in the toy, licensing and entertainment industries industry announced today the hiring of Mary Kay Russell as Executive Director. The organization has experienced tremendous growth over the past 25 years and continues on a trajectory of expansion. The position was created as a result of the group’s success to help better manage the organization, alleviate overworked volunteers and provide infrastructure for WIT’s future.


“I am so thrilled that Mary Kay is joining our team full time,” said Ashley Mady, President, WIT. “Every year we surpass goals and are able to accomplish so much, but there is more to do and I know she will help us soar to new heights this year and beyond.”


Russell has worked in the toy industry in multiple roles as an inventor, manufacturer, communications executive and consultant, making her someone who can address issues from multiple viewpoints. She has also been an active member of WIT in various roles.


“I can’t tell you how honored I am to take on this position,” said Russell. “I have been involved with WIT for many years, and as we begin to celebrate our 25th anniversary, I’m so proud of how far we’ve come and extremely excited for our future.”


Russell will step down from her current position as Principal of MK Marketing and begin at WIT February 1, 2016. She will report to WIT’s president and Board of Directors.

WIT serves and supports women at all stages of their careers, from entrepreneurs and startups to seasoned industry veterans. The WIT Foundation grants scholarships to deserving students enrolled in industry-related undergraduate programs. WIT has 25 chapters throughout the U.S., Canada, Hong Kong, France, the UK and Australia, with liaisons in Finland, Germany, India and Lebanon.
