Amy Thompson is the Chief People Officer for Gap Inc. In this role, she oversees all global Human Resources functions including Equality & Belonging, Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards and HR Shared Services.
With more than 25 years of experience leading Human Resources for world-class companies, iconic brands and scaled retail operations, Amy is a purpose-driven leader who specializes in building high-performing business teams and influencing positive cultural change and cross-functional collaboration.
Prior to joining Gap Inc., Amy, served as Chief People Officer at Mattel, Inc., where she successfully led the effort to elevate the company’s corporate mission, purpose and values, while supporting a comprehensive business transformation with an improved operating model, talent initiatives, and enhanced performance incentive programs. The impact of Amy’s leadership has been recognized by Forbes, Fast Company, the Human Rights Campaign and the Great Place to Work Institute.
Prior to joining Mattel, Amy served as Chief People Officer for TOMS Shoes, where she successfully developed and implemented organizational plans to scale the company globally by elevating talent and direct-to-consumer capability, and founded TOMS Leading Ladies, an organization dedicated to empowering and inspiring women leaders. Previously, she held several HR executive leadership roles at Starbucks Coffee Company, Ticketmaster Corporation and Citysearch.com.
Amy received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Chaminade University and holds a master's degree in organizational development from Azusa Pacific University.
