KidStuff PR

KidStuff PR is a mid-size public relations agency specializing in children’s products and toys. Based in Los Angeles, CA, it was established in 1994 as the agency of record for Zany Brainy toy stores. Since then, the agency’s founder and president, Lisa Orman, along with a talented team of writers and social media experts, has helped companies ranging from small start-up toy companies to medium and larger-sized manufacturers build awareness through consumer and trade media and influencers about their products.

One of few public relations agencies focusing on children’s products and toys, KidStuff PR offers a unique and targeted approach to public relations. In recent years the agency added TechStuff PR and GiftStuff PR divisions to promote robotics, apps, coding toys, home & garden, entertainment, jewelry and more. The agency’s specialization has led to close relationships with key media influencers and the toy industry community, as exemplified by its past public relations projects and service with the Toy Association (TA), Astra, and Women in Toys, Entertainment, and Licensing.

President Lisa Orman established KidStuff Public Relations in 1994 out of her home near Madison, Wis., after securing the public relations account for Zany Brainy. As a new mom at the time, she knew the importance of being able to understand children and assembled a team of moms (and a dad) with experience in public relations, and more importantly—parenting. Orman used her past experiences as a writer for the Des Moines Register, Wall Street Journal, Newsweek and USA Today to give her a better understanding of when, why and how to successfully pitch to media.

Lisa Orman served a 3-year term through the pandemic on the Astra Board of Directors. All KidStuff PR team members are Certified Play Experts (CPE), a certification program with Astra to educate members about childhood mental, emotional and physical health development and how play and playthings benefits children.

She has been a longtime WiT member since its early days and was honored with two Wonder Woman Awards from WiT, one for Online Social Networker, and the other for Consultant. These honors are among the accomplishments she holds most dear in her career.

In August 2024, she sold her agency to Diverse Companies, making KidStuff PR the only agency owned by a national sale rep agency and access to data and trends on sales and inventory info. Orman continues to run the business until 2031, at which time she’ll retire and hand the reins to her VP.
