More About Me

Tell us about your career journey and how you ended up here.

A 17 year career as a floral designer led to a love of creativity that I couldn’t give up once I hung up my shears for good. I dabbled in greeting and invitation design before falling into the world of games and toys after a fateful night with childhood friends. An idea meant to entertain us for an evening turned into a game idea followed by a successful Kickstarter, and ultimately landing a licensing deal with Goliath. Everything thing I have chosen to do in my careers has had something to do with connecting others, so it should be no surprise that I found a a passion in game creation. I love to incorporate humor, fun, wit and ease into my products, toys and games make that a perfect fit!

Describe yourself in 5-7 words.

Creative, curious, easily amused, inspired, supportive

Tell us about a time when you thrived at work, and what you learned about yourself from that experience.

I have just been nominated for a TAGIE award in the rising star category. Knowing people nominated with such wonderful things to say really helped me see that what I was doing and how I was doing it matters.

What is your favorite part of your job?

Finding new ways to make people laugh through play. There truly is no bigger way to make people connect than through a shared funny experience or moment.

How about when you "turn off" and go home? Any hobbies or fun activities you are involved in?

I have 2 active boys and watching them play sports is fun for me because I know they love it and the time is fleeting! But spending time with them and my husband is my favorite, no matter what we are doing. I enjoy reading, traveling, being with friends, I’m a sucker for a good movie and seeing others be creative through their art.

Any must-read, must-watch or must-follow recommendations?

Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert is such a great read for anyone attempting to be a creative. Very inspiring! I love to watch Masterclass with business people exposing their process, like Sara Blakely. Making It In The Toy Industry podcast is great for newbies in the toy industry!

Anything else you want to share with the WIT Community?

I have been so lucky to connect with other women in the industry, both new to or veterans that have been instrumental in my journey. I love how there is a group like WIT that makes the effort to finding each other easy. So many of us want to be a support and see each other succeed!
