More About Me

Tell us about your career journey and how you ended up here.

I started out simply wanting my kids to feel proud of their cultural identity, something I didn’t see reflected in most craft kits or mainstream toys. As an immigrant mom and creative thinker, I took a leap and started Dcraftsource, where we design hands-on celebration kits that make festivals like Eid, Diwali, Christmas, and more accessible and joyful. I never imagined it would grow into a movement of families, teachers, and stores embracing diversity through creativity.

Describe yourself in 5-7 words - have fun with it!

Creative, cultural bridge-builder, joyful maker, eternal optimist, perpetual outlander, a modern day nomad.

Tell us about a time when you thrived at work, and what you learned about yourself from that experience.

At a local market, I watched kids light up while using our stamp kits, they instantly connected with their culture in a hands-on, fun way. That moment reminded me I’m not just selling products,I’m helping kids feel seen and proud. It taught me that small ideas can make a big emotional impact when they come from a place of honesty.

What is your favorite part of your job?

I love designing each kit, choosing symbols, creating illustrations, and imagining the joy families will have crafting together. It’s where creativity meets cultural storytelling. The best part of my job is play testing it with my daughter.

How about when you "turn off" and go home? Any hobbies or fun activities you are involved in?

I’m a big fan of racket sports..Pickleball is my latest obsession! I go to local clinics to play and play in tournaments too. I also love baking, especially gluten-free treats for my family and friends… though honestly, I’ll bake just about anything.

Any must-read, must-watch or must-follow recomendations?

I’m constantly inspired by storytellers who mix humor with depth. Trevor Noah’s memoir Born a Crime is a brilliant, funny, and deeply moving read on identity and resilience. Vir Das’s stand-up specials offer a sharp, heartfelt take on diaspora, culture, and growing up between worlds.

Anything else you want to share with the WiT Community?

Chasing perfection can keep you stuck. I’ve learned that progress, not perfection, is where the magic happens especially in creative work. Start messy, start small, but start. The world needs what only you can make.
