Women in Toys, Licensing & Entertainment Announces the Appointment of Six New Board Members for 2021

NEW YORK, August 30, 2021 – Women in Toys, Licensing & Entertainment (WIT), a global nonprofit organization and the industry’s preeminent voice for the advancement of women, has announced the election of six new members to its Board of Directors for 2021.


Four candidates were elected in January 2021 to serve their first term:

  • Amy Thompson, EVP and Chief People Officer, Mattel

  • Kristi Wasmer, SVP, Retail Sales & Marketing, ViacomCBS

  • Michelle Weber, Senior Sales Executive, Toy’n Around

  • Shawn Smith, Director of PR, Warner Bros.

Two candidates were elected in August 2021 to serve their first term:

  • Angelina Castro, Director of Marketing, Jazwares

  • Kristin Lecour, Co-VP, Consumer Products & Vice President, Distribution, 9Story Media Group

These powerful leaders each bring a unique set of skills and talents that will drive our mission forward,” says Janice Ross, WIT President. “The work we do at WIT to advance women in toys, licensing and entertainment has never been more important than in today’s volatile business environment, where we’re losing women in the workplace due to fallout from the pandemic. ABOUT WOMEN IN TOYS, LICENSING & ENTERTAINMENT

Founded in 1991, Women in Toys, Licensing & Entertainment (WIT) / The WIT Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to advance women through leadership, networking and educational opportunities. WIT serves and supports women at all stages of their careers, from entrepreneurs and startups to seasoned industry veterans. The WIT Foundation grants scholarships to deserving students enrolled in industry-related undergraduate programs. WIT has 25 chapters throughout the U.S., Canada, Hong Kong, France, the UK and Australia, with liaisons in Finland, Germany, India and Lebanon.
